As an example, our teeth whitening service is quite popular. This is a quick and affordable means of transforming your smile. We also perform enamel bonding to remedy chipped teeth or teeth with deep stains. This moldable material empowers the dentist to shape it to your unique teeth for the perfect smile. Perhaps you can benefit from dental veneers. These porcelain shells are quite thin and fit atop the surface of teeth. Dental veneers are put in place after tooth enamel is lightly filed down and an impression is taken. Your customized veneers really will dramatically enhance the look of your teeth and your smile.
Cosmetic dental treatments can:
Brighten stained or discolored teeth
Repair cracks or fractures
Fill gaps between teeth
Correct overcrowding
Reshape teeth
Replace missing teeth
Replace old metallic restorations, such as fillings and crowns
Porcelain Crowns
Porcelain crowns look and function just like regular teeth. In total, two visits to Fairbanks Dental Care will be necessary to add porcelain crowns. The initial visit provides an opportunity to examine the tooth and prepare it for the porcelain crown. The dentist shapes the tooth to ensure there is enough room to place the crown. The amount of reshaping necessary hinges on the nuances of the tooth. The sides and top of the tooth are filed down so it can be shaped to accommodate the crown. If there is any decay on the tooth, it will be taken care of during this step.
It must be noted that if there is not enough tooth structure remaining, filling material might be necessary to bolster the tooth’s structure for the placement of the crown. It might also be necessary to take an impression of the tooth positioned on the opposing jaw to ensure it connects to the crown just right. Impressions are created with the use of a specialized putty or paste that maintains the tooth’s shape. This paste is positioned over the area that is to be replicated and pulled away, capturing the true surface shape of the tooth.
We also add a temporary crown to safeguard the tooth. The next visit takes place after the dental lab has made the crown. The dentist removes the temporary crown and places the permanent customized crown in place.
Teeth whitening
Teeth whitening has quickly become one of the most popular cosmetic dental treatments. If your teeth are darkened, yellowed or stained, you can benefit from teeth whitening performed at Fairbanks Dental Care. Instead of resorting to at-home teeth whitening kits that are not guaranteed to work, opt for professional teeth whitening at our office performed in a completely professional manner. We use the best teeth bleaching agents and perform whitening with careful monitoring while at-home kits use comparably low-dose teeth bleaching agents.
Give teeth whitening a try at our office and you will find this treatment is fully controlled, perfectly safe and does not cause even the slightest bit of pain. We use comparably thick peroxide gels that does not seep into the teeth as occurs with the gels used by other dentists in the past. This gel is also favored as it is that much easier to control.
While DIY teeth whitening with at-home kits purchased at the store have the potential to move to your gums, cheeks, tongue and other parts of the mouth, we carefully perform whitening to ensure it strictly remains on the teeth. Once your teeth are whitened by our dental professionals, you will find they are brighter, cleaner and make that much more of a powerful visual impact. This is the gorgeous smile you need to part your teeth in full confidence in social settings.
Composite Fillings
It was not long ago when ugly silver-hued fillings were the sole option for teeth with cavities. Silver fillings are unpleasant to the eye and also make it clear to others that one’s oral hygiene is lacking. Thankfully, composite fillings are now available, serving to replicate the look of actual natural teeth. Fairbanks Dental Care’s composite fillings look amazing, creating visual uniformity throughout the mouth so you can smile with confidence knowing all of your teeth will look similar to one another.
Opt for composite fillings and you won’t have to worry about mercury. This is not the case with silver amalgam fillings that contain mercury and subject patients to potential side effects. Composite resin fillings consist of powdered and plastic glass that make the teeth look real and function without flaw.
The procedure for the placement of composite fillings starts with isolating the tooth so it does not come into contact with saliva. The dried tooth is drilled so the infected section can be removed. The composite resin is added one layer after another and hardened in place with the use of a specialized light. Once the tooth is filled, the composite will be shaped by the dentist so it looks like a natural tooth.
Porcelain Veneers
Porcelain veneers are dental laminates that make stained or discolored teeth look whiter and brighter. Fairbanks Dental Care’s porcelain veneer procedure begins with a trimming of the tooth. To be more specific, the enamel along the front side of the tooth will be trimmed so it matches the thickness of the veneer. This is minor trimming so don't fret! The dentist will carefully trim the tooth's enamel so the porcelain veneers can be easily bonded in place, making the tooth look and function like a natural tooth. In fact, no one will be able to tell you have a porcelain veneer connected to the tooth.
If you would like an anesthetic to be applied during the preparation of your teeth, let the dentist know. Porcelain veneers have advanced to the point that they are created in a shade that matches that of your current teeth. In fact, it is even possible to use specific colors for different sections of the veneer.
Once the trimming is done, the dentist will take the tooth's impression. Impressions will also be taken of the adjacent teeth and the gums so a veneer can be fabricated to fit just right in your mouth. The temporary veneer will be put in position so the permanent veneer can be made at a dental laboratory. This process typically takes a week or two.
Once the porcelain veneer is made, it will be bonded to the tooth following the removal of the temporary veneer. The dentist will carefully assess the fit to ensure it is comfortable, beautiful and functional. The veneer will be removed for trimming and repositioning as many times as necessary to ensure you find the fit acceptable.
